Yesterday, the women of Young Money (rapstress Nicki Minaj and vocalist Christina Milian) engaged in a passive aggressive exchange of words over Instagram. It all began when Minaj caught wind of Milian’s clothing company “We Are Pop Culture” selling “Pretty On Fleek” themed gear on its’ website.
Minaj tweeted out a picture of Milian wearing a “Pretty On Fleek” hoodie and captioned it“I saw Christina sellin tshirts that say Pretty On Fleek. I was waitin on my percentage at the door! *tilts head*” The Young Money emcee is alluding to the fact that she believes she should be credited for creating the catchy phrase, because it caught on after she said it on her Beyonce- assisted single “Feeling Myself.”
Milian immediately replied by telling her side of the story and it went like this: “Hey boo. Been saying #OnFleek everything for a while now… But I’m not afraid to share. Most biz these days on shirts and etc is based off new Pop Culture quotes. That’s why it’s called line is called We Are Pop Culture. More of an homage. I see it pretty often. But if you feel any kind of way I’m not a greedy Biatch. the girl that said #OnFleek in first place must be on cloud 9 now.”
After each one of them made their point, they claimed there was no issue moving ahead and that they still have nothing but love for each another.
